Who flies there, and how much does it cost?

ERA and Yute - daily flights. $70 one way on ERA, $60 one way on ERA and $210 to charter a three seat plane.

When you reach your site, how do you get from the airport to your home?

Walk down the boardwalk about 1/4 mile.

How big is the village?

Kwigillingok has 375 people.

(Geographic makeup-along a river, slough, coast? Tundra, muddy, hills, cliffs? Etc.)

The area is flat marsh - there are boardwalks through the village. There is a small off-shoot of a river near the end of the village.

What’s the weather like, and what is it like in August?

The weather in August is rainy, quite cool, and windy. Winters are typically very snowy with big drifts because of the winds. Quite cold (minus 40 with windchill of minus 70). Usually minus 20 to minus 30. There is good ice-fishing. Kwigillingok often floods in the spring, but usually teacher housing does not get flooded.

Honeybuckets - water storage in house. There are four teacher houses.

Two stores - fairly well stocked.

What should a new teacher bring?

Good raingear and boots. Food for at least a month.
