The airport is less than a city block from the teacher housing, an easy walk. The airport is really the store and the clerk in the store can tell anyone how to get to the school or teacher housing, which is right next door to the school. If you fly ERA, you will be met by the school maintenance person who is the ERA agent. He is very generous about taking people and luggage to school.

The scenery is breath-taking and there are plenty of places to ride. The ride to the mine is always interesting. The ride along the beach is always beautiful.

The weather can be rainy, but it can also be beautiful. It is usually warmer here than in Bethel. Sometimes a jacket is needed in August and September, sometimes not. Winters are milder that Bethel’s.

There is one teacher house and one apartment connected to the school. The two bedroom teacher house has a holding tank, which provides running water, shower/bath, and laundry facilities. The apartment is a studio apartment with shower, toilet, laundry facilities. It is very small and better than most teacher housing.

There is one store. The first year I was here it was quite well stocked. However, this past year it has not been. I order most of my things from Anchorage..
